Coming up with a complete change in design and making a mid-range phone, the OnePlus X is surely one of the best bang for bucks out there but is it for you? Let's find out.
LOOK AND FEEL
The OnePlus X expresses a complete overhaul on company's design. Now we have a dual glass panel back with full black body. The phone is available in two versions - OnyX and Ceramic one. Ceramic adds to the weight and looks but we will be reviewing the OnyX here. The phone looks compelling and incredibly beautifully crafted.
The 5 inch screen is intellectually designed and provides enhancements for one handed use. The power keys and the volume rockers are present towards the right edge with power key below the volume rockers. There are speakers at the side of the screen.
Ultimately, we find that OnePlus X is one of the most premium looking smartphone available and the price tag just surprises us all.

DISPLAY
The OnePlus X comes with a 5-inch AMOLED display with a 1920 x 1080 resolution, alongside a pixel density of 441 ppi. Texts are sharp with videos being vivid. It is worth mcent that the display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass.
The AMOLED screen tends to take your heart away. Media playing is also excellent. OxygenOS by default is in dark mode to take care of your eye strain, commonly found in profound lollipop users.
Amoled display can be triggered by waving a hand over the phone top. Ambient display shows the time with minimal supervision.

HARDWARE
When it comes to hardware, the OnePlus X preserves some of the features from the OnePlus 2, while adding some new hardware components as well, with the main deletion this time around being the fingerprint scanner. NFC is not available. The devices also lacks the waterproof coating which its Motorola side of competitors has to offer.
Another feature that is kept from the OnePlus 2 is the dual SIM tray, the secondary SIM slot now doubles as a microSD card slot, which will certainly be appreciated, since the 16 GB of on-board storage will not be enough for most people. The OnePlus X packs a 2,525 mAh battery. With normal usage, the device allows for around 3 hours of screen-on time, which seems pretty low, but signifies need for more when advancement in the low price of this smartphone.
Score: 7/10
SOFTWARE
OnePlus X comes with its own modified form of android 5.1.1 lollipop, OxygenOS out of the box. OxygenOS is essentially based on stock and tends to keep things simple. There is a dark mode which is activated by default and restores the dark app drawer we saw in KitKat.
Besides other additions like the file manager, the most stricking software addition is a menu app ( called Shelf) you get swiping left to your home screen. It has your recent apps, last used contacts and even options to switch wallpapers- all beautifully arranged. The file manager is pretty basic and material but I still prefer using ES File Explorer because they simply are the best. OnePlus has assured guaranteed marshmallow update by Q2 next year.

PERFORMANCE
Under the hood, the OnePlus X ships with a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, clocked at 2.3 GHz, which in turn backed with a Adreno 330 GPU equipped with 3 GB of RAM. With daily tasks, like writing emails, listening to music, watching the occasional video, and general web browsing, the OnePlus X doesn’t skip a bit, and only when firing up the more recent graphically-intensive games like Dark Knight, is where you experience a slowdown. Asphalt 8 is fluid though.
Even with a Antutu score of 40751 It is worth noting that the handset was not heating.

CAMERA
There is 13mp rear snapper and a 8mp front. The camera app is pretty cool and even let's you take slow motion videos. Likewise, shutter speed is pretty slow. It's great for good lighting conditions, but quality deteriorates drastically as conditions worsen, and taking a shot will always require a very steady hand. Now without worrying much let's take a look at some of the samples.
Score: 8/10
VERDICT
The device is priced at $249USD ( Approx Rs17,000) which come with the world renowned invite only system. It is definitely not the best phone in the range, seeing that Moto X is just $30 (Rs 2,000) away the phone can still be considered as the best bang for bucks. The phone is perfect for all college students and kids willing to take on phones because of the camera and games it had to serve. Likewise it is also unfair to ignore the immense beauty of the device which cannot be found in any of devices below the $300 price tag.
