Late afternoon today Firefox unveiled its developer preview of its new version of Firefox OS. The entire os is available for download and the entire size of is is just 88mb.
IMPRESSION
The os(which can also be hailed as a 'advanced' launcher) ships with several apps. The os primary focus, web is clearly visible.
In the settings, you get private browsing, additional web features. The gallery app is also good but fails to recognize SD cards. Gallery app also comes with a few editing tools.
There is also a contacts app which looks very similar to the stock android KitKat people all.
The most notable things about the os is that it tends to replace widgets by web bookmarks and Firefox with another lite version of it.
Navigation is similar to as seen in Ubuntu and iOS.
VERDICT

The os seems very laggy but that can easily be ignored considering its still in beta and running above android. Overall, Firefox os seems a nice concept but Mozilla thinking to put it above android so as to people may make the switch is definitely not a thing to be happening. It essentially works around the web with a marketplace which pretty much looks like a bookmark of several web apps. You can get your hands on the app
