8 new marshmallow features we have fallen in love with

34

Google had been previewing the M for a long duration. They released Lollipop as company's biggest attempt to take over iPhone and WP in terms of design. But, features? The 5.0 update was deprived of any great feature addition. Thanks to all those critics, we have a version that's not only functional but also lucid. There's not much design overhaul.

1. NOW ON TAP
Simple. Google now is one tap away. Imagine not leaving your screen to lookup what's the translation or who is the lead singer. Questions like what is this place and how to get there, everything without you ever needing to leave your app, just hold the home button and here's your answer

For example let us suppose, you receive a WhatsApp message like this and you have no idea who the hell is Cruise or what's Edge of tomorrow (although Lopez isn't in the movie) . Traditionally you would have minimized WhatsApp app then would have searched for Tom Cruise then edge of tomorrow and then return to WhatsApp and say yes or no. But now with tap, you just hold the home button and all your answers are in the screen. Simple and hassle free!

Slide the results down and you are back to your WhatsApp chat screen

2.UNIFIED APP Settings

With marshmallow you can manage everything and in a single place. You can control whether a app needs to access microphone and not location. You can check if its a folder lock app and yet asking permission to use your NFC. You can even see if the app us permitted to view notification and if the app is juicing out your battery.

You can even check what individual apps do. For instance check this:

I don't believe apps like youcam should have access to contacts so I will simply disable it

3.DOZE

This is company's first serious attempt to solve android's battery drain problem. This intends to solve the old problem. Now, if you don't use your apps for a long time they switch to mode similar to hibernate. It does nit allow apps to work in background and puts 'low-end' tasks to an end. You don't have option to enable/disable it, it is just present. Experimentally it increases your battery usage time by 100%.

4. CUT COPY AND PASTE

This is a simple yet amazing one. For copying, cut and paste you don't have to navigate to beginning of selection simply just to hit copy. You can simply choose right where your selection ends.

5. FINGERPRINT

With Marshmallow the  support becomes native. Meaning you can see better use of finger print app and finger prints can be used not only just to lock/unlock but you can also use it to secure your google play payments or protect your private messages.

6. STORAGE

With a new feature called flex storage the external sdcard can be encrypted to make it behave like onboard storage, without root. So with 16gb internal and 32 GB SD card, you actually have 48gb internal storage. Isn't this cool?

The ram manager is also simpler and much easy to use.

You have detailed information about performance and easier management of CPU.

7.DUPLEX PRINT

Using a printer with android? Now print on both sides of the page. Simple yet nifty.

8.NEW APP DRAWER

The app drawer is simple and vertical. It lists your 4/5 most used recent apps. It also gives you option to search through your apps.

MISCELLANEOUS

There are several addition like midi support, restore of app data's,languages and simplified google now.
